December 2018: We are looking for a highly motivated research fellow in bioinformatics and neurogenetics. The newly established group in the Department of Human Genetics focuses on fundamental mechanisms of brain development with the ultimate goal of diagnosing and treating neurological diseases. Our recent work uncovered crucial functions of alternative RNA splicing in brain development, and identified novel coding and non-coding mutations that cause human brain malformations. Current research centers on tracing cell types in mammalian brains, and exploring functions of alternative RNA splicing in neurological disorders.

The successful applicant will be co-mentored by Dr. Xin He and interact with exceptional U Chicago faculties in human genetics, neuroscience, and computational biology. The Zhang laboratory is affiliated the Grossman Institute for Neuroscience, Quantitative Biology and Human Behavior, and located in the Cummings Life Science Center, with access to outstanding genomics and computational facilities. This position offers excellent career development opportunities in neurogenetics and bioinformatics.
