Yalan Yang (杨亚岚), PhD, Postdoc Associate (2021.12 - ) Email: yangyalan AT uchicago.edu

Yalan Yang obtained his Ph.D. in Animal Genetics and Breeding from the Institute of Animal Sciences in 2017 under the guidance of Prof. Kui Li and Prof. Zhonglin Tang. Yalan’s graduate works investigated regulatory mechanisms of skeletal muscle development using an array of computation tools and extensive multi-omic data. In the most recent studies, Yalan led the genome-wide DNA methylome, transcriptome, and RNA editomeanalyses of porcine skeletal muscle across 27 developmental stages, and identified promising targets for the genetic improvement of meat production traits in pigs. After joining the Zhang lab, Yalan is interested in cell-type-specific RNA splicing in brain development using single-cell long-read sequencing technologies.
